Once you have dragged and dropped an Element onto the Section Elements Manager, you can use the edit function to add and amend the properties of the Element.

For more information on how to edit an Element, please see this article: How to Edit Elements - General

Navigate to the Validation Tab of the Edit Window

1. Once you have opened up the Edit Properties window for a Text Element, select the Validation tab at the top of the window.

2. For text validation rules, you will be able to add or amend the following:

  1. Text for message to be displayed if the validation rule is not met.
  2. Type of validation rule.

Set a Validation Rule

There are three types of validation rules supported for Smart Forms:

  1. Alphanumeric
  2. Custom (Formulas)
  3. Text Length

Alphanumeric

Only letters or numbers for input (spaces not included) are accepted.

Custom

Enter a SOQL-style formula.

When bad syntax is used in a formula formation, an error message will appear under the formula box in red indicating where syntax needs to be fixed. You can still save the bad syntax but make sure you correct it before publishing!

Here, the validation formula means that only input for the Text Element that is 10 characters or 15 characters will be accepted.

Text Length

This validation rule type allows you to set a minimum and maximum length of characters for the text input by entering numeric values.

Create an Error Message

1. To display a relevant error message in the Axsy Mobile App, enter text into the Error Message field when conditions of the validation rule are not met.

2. Select Save to finish.
